1. The ‘Near Live Surgery’ session and the Sunday morning symposium on Advanced Technology: Better Results?’ have been organised by the Hellenic Society of Intraocular Implant and Refractive Surgery.

2. The programme also includes four main symposia, free paper sessions, moderated poster sessions, eposter presentations and a range of surgical skills training courses.

4. The scientific programme continues to include an extended didactic programme, with courses in Basic Optics, Cataract, Refractive Surgery and Cornea.

5. We are very pleased to be joining our colleagues from the Hellenic Society of Intraocular Implant and Refractive Surgery for this important event.

6. We hope these courses will offer a valuable opportunity for residents and those in training to gain a deeper understanding of the basics of the different sub-specialties.

7. The Annual Cornea Day on Friday has been organised once again in conjunction with EuCornea and we would like to thank them for their continued participation in the Meeting.

8. Our Young Ophthalmologists Programme, which has proved such a success in recent years, takes place on Friday morning.

9. On behalf of the ESCRS Board it is my pleasure to welcome you to Athens for the 23rd ESCRS Winter Meeting.
